Nolan Wells: The Record Has a Chain—and Every Link Matters
PUBLIC RECORDER | COLORIZED COMMUNITY FRIENDS
Current through September 8, 2026. Editorial standard: verified facts are separated from official assertions, firsthand testimony, allegations, hypotheses, and unverified claims.
Executive finding
No public evidence reviewed for this briefing establishes how Nolan Wells died, proves homicide, or proves an institutional cover-up. The record does support precise requests for fuller digital-evidence documentation, authenticated Sea Tow timestamps, and lawfully releasable autopsy, toxicology, and phone-forensic materials.
The Garmin evidence chain
The released Mississippi Department of Marine Resources report says an officer met the registered vessel owner and another adult on July 8, obtained signed consent, inserted a 32GB card into the Garmin unit, and copied one ADM file. The next morning, the officer made a working copy and opened it in Garmin HomePort. On July 10, the ADM file was converted to GPX and used in Google Earth to create a presentation and movement timeline.
That sequence documents a transformation path: device → ADM → working copy → GPX → Google Earth → presentation. The same report lists several device power-ons before extraction. The released report does not describe a full forensic image, write blocker, original-file hash, deleted-data recovery, or a complete device-access log. That absence does not prove alteration; it explains why the native data and every derivative should be preserved and independently compared.
The derived timeline is evidence about vessel movement. By itself, it does not prove who was aboard at every moment.
Sea Tow chronology
The released recording contains a request for help because the boat was taking on water after a bilge-pump problem. Reporting says a Sea Tow captain later stated that a relative of the owner reported the problem had been resolved and assistance was no longer needed.
The public material reviewed here does not provide authenticated machine timestamps for call connection, job creation, captain dispatch or contact, callbacks, and cancellation. It is therefore not responsible to claim that cancellation occurred before the distress call—or to dismiss the timing question. The needed records are the native system export, complete unedited audio, call-detail record, dispatch/job audit trail, clock and time-zone settings, and contemporaneous captain notes.
Claims not verified
No reliable evidence reviewed establishes that the Sea Tow job was canceled before the distress call.
No authenticated record reviewed establishes a Florida voyage relevant to Nolan’s death.
No reliable source reviewed establishes that Jerry Adkerson was president of a Mississippi or Florida boat or yacht club.
No authenticated evidence reviewed establishes that Garmin data was altered.
Marine-industry experience or access to a vessel may justify careful questions, but it is not proof of evidence manipulation or wrongdoing.
Threat prosecutions must remain separate
Court-related reporting described federal allegations arising from threats connected to the public controversy. Those cases concern alleged threats and public safety. A charge is an allegation until proven, and these prosecutions do not establish what happened to Nolan Wells.
Comparable cases: evidence, not rhetoric
Tyrin Johnson — Reporting on an autopsy shared by the family said a bullet entered the right side of Johnson’s back and exited the upper-right chest, conflicting with the public account that he turned toward National Guard members with a handgun when they fired. The wound path is important evidence, but synchronized video, witness statements, scene reconstruction, firearm evidence, radio traffic, and the final charging review remain necessary before deciding legal justification.
Demartravion “Trey” Reed — Authorities publicly ruled Reed’s 2025 death a suicide by hanging and reported no foul play. Family members later said they had not received promised final independent-autopsy results and had lost contact with the legal team. Reporting also said relatives acknowledged suicidal text messages from Reed’s phone. Those messages materially weaken a categorical lynching claim; the independent report and complete video inventory should control.
Each case requires its own proof. Nolan Wells presents an undetermined death and incomplete public digital-chain documentation. Tyrin Johnson presents a forensic conflict with a public account. Trey Reed presents unresolved family questions alongside evidence that cuts against the strongest public allegation. None should be used to manufacture certainty in another.

State and independent autopsy/toxicology materials when lawfully available, including an inventory of retained specimens and chain of custody.
Forensic phone-examination status and protocol, including preservation, scope, hashes, access, and return.
Public call for lawful evidence
Colorized Community Friends invites lawful, firsthand information concerning Nolan Wells’s July 4, 2026 Horn Island trip and the subsequent search. Useful material may include original full-resolution photos or video with intact metadata; native GPS or chartplotter files; marina, launch, dispatch, or vessel records; original unenhanced audio; contemporaneous communications lawfully possessed by the submitter; and firsthand accounts from witnesses, technicians, responders, marina workers, or other participants who can explain how a record was created, handled, or changed.
Do not submit hacked, stolen, illegally intercepted, fabricated, manipulated, or knowingly false material. Do not publicly post private addresses, phone numbers, medical records, or identifying information about a confidential source. Preserve the original before making copies; avoid cropping, renaming, compressing, enhancing, overwriting, or repeatedly re-saving it.
No person should be threatened, harassed, doxxed, or declared guilty based on rumor. Evidence is a torch, not a weapon.
Source provenance and limits
The September 8 briefing drew on the released MDMR Marine Patrol report MP2607-0016, public court-docket reporting, Associated Press, Mississippi Today, Mississippi Free Press, WLOX, the Sun Herald index, and a public checksum-indexed evidence archive. Public social-media posts were used only to identify claims requiring verification, not as proof. Restricted access limited full-text review of some reporting. No private records, confidential-source identities, or unlawfully obtained material were used.
