Who is Guardian of Hope?

2 min read

Guardian of Hope is not just a comic book character. He is the alter ego of Patrick James Cooks Sr., founder of Colorized Community Friends — a mission-driven conglomerate built in the heart of San Francisco's Fillmore District.

From the Streets of Fillmore to the Pages of a Comic

Patrick grew up in the Western Edition Jazz District, the son of Mrs. Bettye Cooks, co-owner of JBP Beauty Boutique on Fillmore Street. That community shaped everything. The generational strength, the struggle, the love — it all lives inside The Guardian of Hope.

Known as "The Bear," Patrick channeled his personal story into a superhero built for the community. The Guardian of Hope wears a dark teal and black suit with a gold spiral emblem on his chest, a large golden afro, and glowing masked eyes. He fights not just villains — he fights for the people who have been forgotten.

The Guardian of Hope Universe

The Guardian of Hope series spans comics, short films, and an ever-growing universe of characters:

  • Shazam of Hope — the lightning-fast ally with a gold emblem and energy burst powers

  • Nicky-of-Time-Nitro — fire-projection warrior with a solar flare origin story

  • The Sirius Solar Twins — angelic beings sent to prevent planetary imbalance

  • Remapedes and The Shadow Syndicate — villains born from chaos, built to conquer

Each volume is a full digital comic (PDF) paired with an animated short film (MP4). Individual volumes are $4.99. The full bundle is $34.99.

Why This Story Matters

The Guardian of Hope comics are autobiographical. Every panel connects back to a real community, a real struggle, and a real mission. When you buy a volume, you are not just buying a comic — you are supporting Project Shine: CCF's housing, employment, and training program for battered women with children.

Stories that inspire. Art that moves.

Every purchase supports Project Shine — Develop. Employ. House.
